Every year medical staff from organisations such as Friends of Fiji Heart Foundation, the Pasifika Medical Association and The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ travel around the Pacific carrying out medical services and offering life-saving treatments. However, this year with Covid-19 causing border closures and restrictions across the Pacific, many specialists have been unable to carry out their work.
For The Foundation, this meant the postponement of Outreaches and clinical services, meaning that many patients have missed out on critical services.
RNZ spoke to some of the organisations involved, about the situation, including The Foundation's Programme Manager Peter Raynes.
