The clinic opened its doors in 2010 and is now managed by the National Department of Health of Papua New Guinea. Due to the shortage of eye specialists in Papua New Guinea, there is no permanent eye doctor at this clinic, and our eye care team based at the Madang Provincial Hospital Eye Clinic in Madang continues to send their eye doctors on surgical outreaches to treat patients in need.
The clinic is successfully managed by eye nurses who were trained by The Foundation through Divine Word University. We continue to support these eye nurses through our Workforce Support Programme, which ensures their eye care skills and knowledge are retained.
